Project Overview

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) expanded the field in 2022, mandating a fully digital Public-Address & General Alarm (PA/GA) system that would remain operational in a 55 °C desert environment, satisfy EN 54-16 / ISO 7240-16, and integrate seamlessly with DCS and fire-alarm subsystems. KNTECH was appointed the single-source EPC contractor Joint Venture JV, responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and a 36-month O&M program. The contract is listed in KNTECH’s 2022 overseas references as “Kuwait Oil Project – Design / Supply / T&C / Maintenance.” 

KOON EPC Scope of Work

Engineering :System architecture, zone & power budget calculations，SIL/HAZ0P review, detailed design to IEC 60079/EN 54-16,cable routing & earthing plans.

Procurement:Factory-built PA server, IP amplifiers, intrinsicallysafe speakers, paging &ambient noise stations,UPS/battery,LSOH cabling and accessories.

Construction:Support Pre wired 19-inch racks, on site installation,Ex-d junction boxes, A/B speaker loop termination, fieldacceptance tests.

Operation &Maintenance:Support 24/7 remote diagnostics, quarterly healthchecks, hot-spare stock, performance reporting

Fully Redundant Core: Each KNTD-50PA controller features dual network ports (RSTP) and automatic failover, managing up to 100 IP devices across unlimited zones.

8 + 1 Amplifier Redundancy: KNIPMG-600D amplifiers carry a spare output channel, provide A/B speaker-line switching, and support AES67 audio with AES70 control and encryption.

High-Definition Audio: 24-bit / 48 kHz backbone ensures STI ≥ 0.65 across process areas; built-in chime generators and 100 min WAV/MP3 library.

Extreme Environment Design: All electronics rated -25 °C – 75 °C; speakers use metal rear covers and 115 °C thermal fuses (KNL9-A-6W) for fire integrity.

Resilient Power: Twin PT3000 UPSs in 1 + 1 configuration supply six-hour ride-through; automatic bypass and alarm annunciation.

Low-Smoke Cabling: WDZR-RYYPS LSOH shielded pairs meet IEC 60332-3 and IEC 61034 for flame, smoke, and halogen requirements.

Performance Results

Zero Unplanned Downtime: > 99.98 % system availability since cut-over (Aug 2022 – Aug 2024).

Ahead-of-Schedule Delivery: Modular rack build shaved 12 % off planned construction schedule.

Regulatory Compliance: Independent SAT confirmed full conformity to EN 54-16 / ISO 7240-16 and KOC HSSE specifications.
